What’s today’s WOD? How many RPM? Will you greet the day with “Fran,” “Helen,” “Karen” and “Angie” or “Death By Pull-Ups,” “Filthy Fifty” and “Fight Gone Bad”? CrossFit can be daunting for those who have never tried and don’t hold the same philosophy of “if you haven’t puked, you’re doing it wrong,” but perhaps Fitness Advantage and CrossFit North Tribe can make you a believer (and let you in on the lingo). Plus, it doesn’t hurt that that Saturday intro classes are free.

Fitness Advantage in Southold is a sibling owned and operated club that welcomes a diverse age and fitness range and offers daily classes, personal training and a complimentary consultation to each new member. CrossFit is adaptable for everyone, regardless of age or fitness level.  “Often heard is the comment, ‘I have to get in better shape before trying CrossFit,'” says owner and coach Sarah Sirico. “Workouts are intensity based, but intensity is relative to each individual. Movements are scaled safely and appropriately to accommodate participants’ abilities. Clients range from the elite athlete to the out-of-shape, elderly or first-time exerciser.”

The club’s CrossFit North Tribe offers a high intensity strength and conditioning workout that combines anything from calisthenics, gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing, tire flipping, rope climbing, sledgehammer striking and much more. Classes are held every day throughout the week, and getting started is as simple as attending a free Saturday intro class. The northforker plans to check it out and we’ll report back on our crossfit experience. We are hoping we can do it right without puking though. To sign up, contact Coach Sarah (Sazzy8@optonline.net) or her brother Coach Dan Hagerman (DPHagerman@gmail.com).
