Cider lovers, many in cheap plastic ponchos or clutching soaked umbrellas, braved the rain to enjoy the apple-derived beverage of the fall for the third annual Pour the Core hard cider festival at Peconic Bay Winery in Cutchogue on Saturday.
Hundreds of revelers huddled under the festival tents to taste the offerings of cideries like Aquebogue’s Woodside Orchards and the Ohio-based Angry Orchard.
“We discovered cider while studying abroad in London,” said festival-goer Jillian Torre, 22, of Bohemia, adding that she has since become of loyal fan of Strongbow Apple Ciders. “It’s in every bar you go to over there.”
